Reach Your Fitness Goals

Personal Trainer in Virginia Beach

Hi. I’m Amy. Navy wife and mother of 2 – Avery and Abel, and I can’t forget about our newest addition fur baby Bentley the Bernedoodle. I’m extremely passionate about fitness and health – especially helping others find their passion for health, and their healthiest selves! It’s got to be fun, functional and real life. It’s got to FIT into your life and actually become part of it to be sustainable long term and for you to be successful. I’m sure you’ve heard it before – “its a lifestyle change” – and I believe that 100%.

I’ve been active my whole life. Playing all kinds of sports in my youth – swimming, track, volleyball and soccer. I found my passion for soccer in my early teens and it took me places I never imagined I’d go. I got to play all over the country, in huge tournaments and eventually overseas as a Loyola Marymount University Lion. Although my college soccer career was far from what I’d hoped, it did ultimately lead me to my passion and profession.

I’ve had 5 knee surgeries since I was 17. Three back to back ACL tears and repairs – starting with my left knee my senior year of high school, then quickly after in my Freshman year preseason for my Right knee. While in Germany for my Sophomore preseason I re-tore my Left ACL, and had to undergo my 3rd repair in three years. I ended up having a Microfracture surgery halfway through my Junior year after damaging my articular cartilage on my trochlear groove on my Left knee, and another clean up surgery on my Right knee shortly after graduation. All this to say, that although these 5 surgeries were catastrophic to my dream College Soccer career – they lead me to my dream career in Strength and Conditioning.

I was blessed to find a Physical Therapy clinic with a staff that pushed me hard to recover, but also led to me fall in love with helping people find their own strength. I had two massive influences in my Physical Therapy endeavor – Brian Schwallier who was my PT in Arizona when I was home and Chris Graham who was my PT at school in California. Both had a massive impact on who I am as a Coach today, not only did they rehab my knees but they taught me so much. Roy Holmes, my first boss as a strength coach, was also pivotal to my growth and development as a CSCS and I can’t thank them enough for all the time and effort they put into molding me into the person I am today.

I honed my skills working for a high level Physical Therapy Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona with a back of house Performance program. We handled all kinds of people. Physical Therapy discharge patients just trying to get back to their “normal” lives. Youth athletes of all levels, including some would be Women’s World Cup players. As a Division 1 soccer player myself, I found so much joy in helping these kids. Especially injury prevention – if I could help one kid evade the career ending injuries I did, my hard work would be worth it. We had our fair share of professional baseball players, Law Enforcement, Military and other Weekend Warriors. I helped with Parkinson’s Patients and PCOS Patients as well. But ultimately, I loved seeing my “General Population” clients succeed. I hate that term “General Population” because the moms and dads, the overweight clients, the insecure teenagers and weeknight kickball players were ANYTHING but general population. These were my favorite clients because you could see the biggest change in them. They had a different drive. The people who aren’t being paid to play a sport or for it to be part of their job – those people are my people. The people who know that movement and fitness are a necessary part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They could make a different choice; they could sleep in or not carve out that special part of the day that they get to focus on themselves. Fitness is self care, and it has always been a honor to represent these clients.

Funny enough, I actually met my husband at the Physical Therapy clinic and we tied the knot in 2015 after 5 years together. His military career has given me the opportunity to start my own business, allowing me to “set up shop” wherever his Navy career takes us. Now 2 kids later, it allows me to be a full-time mom and a part-time strength coach! I am extremely lucky to have this opportunity to stay at home with my children, but I also realize that its fleeting too. Before I know it I will be able to dedicate the time I wish I had now to Re-Building my business. Until then, I will continue to focus the time I do have for my professional life towards helping y’all find joy in your fitness journey!

I am always available for an in person meeting, facetime call or phone call. I do have clients out of state – so we can make anything work! Contact me today to get started!
